I was sitting at home watching The Woodwright’s Shop the other day when inspiration struck!  I went straight to my workshop, pulled out my block plane and square, and suddenly realized I didn’t have any cedar to work with.  I was completely distraught until I remembered the cedarwood essential oil in my cabinet!  Several splinters later, I had created Cedar, Tea Tree, & Grapefruit Soap.

It’s warm and woody with refreshing hints of grapefruit.  The addition of espresso grounds makes it gently exfoliation so you can soften those wood-working calluses.

What do you get when you mix lime with dill, oregano, rosemary, basil, and marjoram?  Hey, that sounds like a fabulous salad dressing.  Wait, we’re talking about soap!  This soap blends lime with herbs and oatmeal to produce a bar that smells clean, fresh, and herbaceous.  It is soothing to the skin and refreshing to the senses.  Each bar contains fully ground oats as well as chopped, rolled oats.

One whiff of this soap will have you craving butterscotch pudding!  Every kid who gets near this soap cannot stop talking about how yummy it smells.

Between the aroma, the butterscotch color, and the pudding-like texture of soap batter, I had to keep reminding myself that I could not eat this stuff as we were making it.

What do you get when you combine the fresh, citrus scent of lemon with the warm, sweet scent of vanilla? Lemon vanilla soap bars that smell good enough to eat! This is another flavor that we’ve been making since we first started making soap. As we were designing soaps for On Broadway, we instantly knew that this was the best pick for Truly Scrumptious.

After the photo shoot, we promptly devoured the lemon bars (the ones on the plate).  Any remnants of powdered sugar or sticky lemon bar were washed from our hands with the luxurious, silky lather of the Lemon Vanilla Soap.

Lavender essential oil, vanilla flavor, and sweet orange essential oil partner to give this soap a floral, herbaceous, warm, sweet scent with a hint of citrus. This is a flavor we have been making since our early soap days. Truly a crowd pleaser, it is always in high demand.

Typically, I like to give our lavender soaps a nice lavender color, but any time you have a significant amount of vanilla flavor in a recipe, the soap will turn out some shade of brown. It’s a small price to pay for that scrumptious addition of vanilla.

This soap was designed by one of our Step In Time dancers for the Mary Poppins segment in On Broadway.  The flavor is strongly minty with a sweet, fruity finish.  The bars are marbled green and red with a highly textured top swirl that looks like frosting on a cake.

When I grab one of these bars and take a big inhale, my eyes open wide, and I just can’t help but smile.  This one is a favorite of kids and adults alike.

Our new Tobacco Vanilla Soap, dubbed An American in Paris, is another On Broadway inspiration.  The flavor features the rich, earthy scent of dried tobacco perfectly blended with the sweet, warm scent of vanilla.  We topped off the brown and tan swirl with a drizzle, which looks amazingly like chocolate and caramel.  Yum!

I have always loved the smell of dried tobacco.  I remember stepping into an old tobacco barn on a third grade field trip and being shocked at the smooth, pleasant aroma.  This combination works great for both men and women.

Here is another soap inspired by On Broadway.  When I first had the idea for the Hot Honey Rag soap, I thought it would be great to create a soap that not only smells like honey but also looks like honeycomb, but how?  I wondered if bubblewrap could possibly do the trick and not end up completely embedded in the soap.  I am happy to report that it was a great success.  Hot Honey Rag has a pleasantly warm honey aroma and even looks like honeycomb!

Today’s assignment was to photograph the soap.  Normally, I can set up the photo, take a few shots, change everything around, take a few more shots, and really play around until I end up with something I like.  Of course, once you start drizzling honey on things, there’s only so much rearranging that can take place before it looks like your 2-year-old has been “cooking” again.  I found an arrangement of the bars that I liked and called out with confidence, “Queue the drizzle!”

For those collectors out there, we now have in the store a limited edition of 5 bars of Hot Honey Rag, still dripping with sweet honey from the photo shoot. You had better act quick… these bars won’t stick around!
